Cursor Pricing and How to Choose

Cursor's Plus plan costs $8 a month before tax. This guide covers the new plan prices, the weekly usage pool, where extra costs come from, and how to pick a plan.

TL;DR

  • Since October 12, 2026, Cursor uses The X Subscription: Free, Plus $8/mo, Premium $30/mo, Super $100/mo, Ultra $200/mo (USD, excluding tax).
  • Paid plans share one usage pool with Grok, and the pool refreshes weekly, not monthly; when it runs out you buy a top-off or wait.
  • Plus covers Grok models; Claude or GPT needs Premium or higher. Legacy Pro and Pro+ can't be bought by new customers, and once you switch from them you can't go back.

Cursor moved to a new pricing system, The X Subscription, on October 12, 2026. Grok and Cursor now share one usage pool, and the pool refreshes every week. If Grok models are enough for you, Plus is the place to start. If you also want Claude or GPT, you need Premium or higher. This guide covers plan prices, how the usage pool works, where extra costs come from, and how to choose.

Prices are in US dollars and exclude tax. The official wording is “Prices shown do not include applicable taxes or fees (e.g. VAT).”

Prices can change within a few months, so check the official page before you subscribe (sources: https://cursor.com/pricing and https://cursor.com/help/account-and-billing/pricing, checked 2026-10-18).

The older plans, such as Pro ($20/mo) and Pro+ ($60/mo), are now legacy plans. New customers can’t buy them. Existing subscribers keep them until they switch or cancel. Switching is optional, but once you switch, you can’t go back (sources: https://cursor.com/help/account-and-billing/pricing and https://forum.cursor.com/t/introducing-the-x-subscription/174450, checked 2026-10-18).

Included usage and what happens when it runs out

Paid plans include a weekly usage pool for Cursor models. The models named on the official page are Grok 4.7, Grok 4.6, Grok 4.5, and Composer 2.5. The pool is shared across Agent, the CLI, Cloud Agents, Grok Bot, and the Grok apps. Higher tiers state their usage as a multiple of Plus, not as a token or request count.

The pool refreshes weekly, not monthly. Cursor says one heavy day doesn’t use up your whole month.

When you run out, you have two options. Buy a top-off and keep going, or wait for the pool to refresh. Top-offs are prepaid credit. Cursor model usage beyond your weekly pool is charged from that credit at per-model token rates, which are listed in a table in the official pricing docs. You can see your remaining usage in settings (sources: https://cursor.com/pricing and https://cursor.com/docs/account/pricing, checked 2026-10-18).

Where extra costs come from

Beyond the monthly price, costs come from three places:

You can set limits. A monthly additional usage limit caps paid extra usage each month. Auto Top-up refills your credit when the balance drops below a threshold you choose. We could not find the default value of the monthly limit on the official pages (not confirmed) (source: https://cursor.com/docs/account/pricing, checked 2026-10-18).

If you use the Grok API separately, it is billed at standard model rates. It doesn’t draw from your plan’s pool (source: https://cursor.com/pricing, checked 2026-10-18).

What Plus doesn’t include

The $8 Plus plan has limits. Grok models run at fixed settings (Fast off, medium effort). Auto, Cloud Agents, Automations, Bugbot, Origin, and third-party models are not available. Premium and above add all of them (source: https://cursor.com/help/account-and-billing/pricing, checked 2026-10-18).

Individuals vs. teams

Teams is priced per seat at $30, $100, or $200. Each matches Premium, Super, or Ultra in price and weekly usage. Usage on Teams is not pooled. Each member has their own allowance. Only Enterprise pools usage across the team. The prepaid credit balance and the additional usage cap, however, are one per team, managed by admins. Plus isn’t available for teams.

Teams adds centralized billing and administration, usage analytics, team-wide privacy settings, and SAML/OIDC SSO. Enterprise adds invoice billing, SCIM seat management, granular spend controls, audit logs, and priority support (sources: https://cursor.com/pricing and https://cursor.com/docs/account/pricing, checked 2026-10-18).

How to choose

Here is a rough guide by use case. Each point is limited to what the official pages support.
